Has people not learned anything from history? The legislatures of Venezuela have just recently voted themselves out of office, and given total control to Hugo Chavez. Can anyone spell Hitler? The course that Chavez is taking is the exact path that Hitler did when he took control of Germany. Do the Venezuelans really think that Chavez will simply hand power back over to them in the 18 month window. No!!
So what can we do about it? Since we can not go down there and kick some sense into them let's look at using the power of the mighty dollar. The president and congress should look at immediately cutting off all diplomatic ties short of closing our embassy. They should also look at immediately stopping all imports and exports to and from Venezuela. Lets see what Chavez can do with no money coming into his country. granted there will always be countries who will buy his oil, but to the level of the U.S. The president then needs to contact all of our allies and get them on board with us.
We need to isolate this mad dictator as much as possible before it becomes too late and we are forced to take military action.
